The SSSC and the Care Inspectorate are working together to update Scottish Governments’ Safer Recruitment through Better Recruitment (2007) guidance and we’d like your help.

The guidance helps employers make sure that unsuitable staff do not gain access to children or protected adults.

The review will focus on how social service workers are recruited and will incorporate value-based recruitment approaches. This will help employers to recruit the right people into the workforce and retain experienced staff to improve sustainability, consistency and continuity for people who use services. 

To make sure the guidance is as current and relevant as possible we are looking for examples of current good practice and employers that have been working to the ‘higher’ level of practice outlined in the guidance. 

With your help we will develop an essentials guide for employers to help them meet their legislative and regulatory requirements and develop an online resource which points to more detailed guidance, relevant organisations and examples of good practice.
