Practice Qualification

  • Any practice qualification in the supervisor or manager category
  • HNC Social Services
  • SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 6

Qualifications also accepted

  • BA (Hons) Social Work (or equivalent)

Qualifications meeting requirements of other regulatory bodies:

  • Degree/Diploma in Community Education as recognised by the Standards Council for Community Learning and Development for Scotland Approvals Committee
  • A qualification meeting the registration requirements of the General Teaching Council (Scotland), Nursing and Midwifery Council or the General Medical Council
  • A qualification meeting the registration requirements for the following professional groups regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council:
    • Occupational Therapists
    • Art, Music and Drama Therapists
    • Physiotherapists
    • Speech and Language Therapists
    • Practitioner Psychologists

Legacy qualifications (past qualification that we continue to accept)

  • Any qualification in practice suitable for a support worker in a care service with a minimum of 60 credits at SCQF level 6 or above that has been assessed by the SSSC as meeting the principles and criteria and is/can be mapped to the benchmark qualification for this category
  • Any qualification in practice suitable for a support worker in a care service with a minimum of 60 credits at SCQF Level 7 or above that has been accepted by the SSSC for worker / support worker category in a Housing Support service or Adult care service.
  • Note: CIH / S/NVQ Housing qualifications are only acceptable within H/S. They are not acceptable within other care services.)

  • HND/HNC Supporting Learning Needs
  • NVQ Level 2 in Housing, Chartered Institute of Housing Joint Award plus unit HSC24 ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals
  • S /NVQ Care / Direct Care (Level 2/ SCQF Level 6).
  • S/ NVQ Health and Social Care, (Level 2 / SCQF Level 6).
