Did you miss the deadline for support workers in care at home and housing support services to get their registration applications to us on 13 December? If you did our frequently asked questions will help with what to do next.

What should I do if I haven’t submitted my application by 13 December 2019?

Please start your application as soon as possible and submit it to us, even though it is after the deadline.

Will I be able to work if I didn’t have my application in by 13 December 2019?

If you started your job on or before 2 October 2017, you will be able to continue working until 30 September 2020, by which time you are required to be registered.

If you started after 3 October 2017 you are required to have gained registration within six months of starting in your role.

You employer may be committing an offence by continuing to employ you in a role that requires you to be registered. If you have any concerns about what this may mean for you, please speak to your employer.

Will my application be processed after 13 December 2019?

Yes. Even though the deadline has passed, we will still process new applications for registration. We work through applications in date order and will continue to work hard to process and register as many people as possible. However, only those who submitted an application before 13 December will be guaranteed registration by the deadline of 30 September 2020.

How will I know when you are processing my application?

In your online MySSSC account your application status will be updated to ‘Allocated‘. Also, we will contact you by email if we need any further information to process your application. Please check your emails regularly – if you do not return any information we ask for, your application may be rejected.
