About the role 

We are recruiting an experienced Accountant to our accounting team.  

You will support the Head of Finance and Senior Accountant to deliver a comprehensive and high-quality finance service to the SSSC.    

Working in a busy team you will:  

  • compile financial information and hold meetings with budget holders  
  • be responsible for collating budget monitoring projection data and updating the overall financial position for budget monitoring reports
  • help compile the SSSC annual budgets  
  • assist in the production of the SSSC statutory annual accounts  
  • review monthly balance sheet reconciliations  
  • compile information for financial or statistical returns  
  • train and develop finance and non-finance staff

What you need to succeed 

We are looking for someone who:  

  •  is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or holds a part professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CIPFA, CA, ACCA, ACMA)
  • can demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • has organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload 
  • is a strong communicator and able to demonstrate commitment to excellent customer service 
  • is able to work on your own initiative and with minimal supervision.  
  • has excellent problem solving and analytical skills 
  • is able to work flexibly as part of a team
